On April 15, Consul General Zhang Sheping and his wife, Du Xiaoxi, attended the 2026 Lao New Year traditional parade in Luang Prabang at the invitation of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Also in attendance were Khamphan, member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Minister of Information; Somsavat, former Deputy Prime Minister; Bounryong, Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee; and Bounleul, President of the Luang Prabang Provincial Government.

Nearly two thousand performers in traditional costumes followed floats with different themes, vividly showcasing Luang Prabang's unique folk customs and rich history. The final float, shaped like a wild boar, carried the newly selected 2026 Lao "Songkran Goddess," moving slowly through the procession amidst cheers and a festive atmosphere.

During the event, Consul General Zhang and his wife warmly interacted with Lao guests, positively evaluating the development of China-Laos relations, including the achievements of exchanges and cooperation between the consular district and China, and exchanging water sprinkling greetings according to tradition.
