On May 19th, Consul General Zhang Sheping met with Soe Takpong, Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Luang Prabang Province.

Zhang Sheping stated that tourism cooperation between China and Laos has yielded fruitful results. Last year, over 1.15 million Chinese tourists visited Laos, with nearly 820,000 visiting Luang Prabang. The Consulate General is willing to work with the Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism to further deepen local cultural exchanges and jointly contribute to the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future, taking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos and the "China-Laos Friendship Year" as an opportunity.

Soe Takpong stated that China is a major source of tourists for Luang Prabang Province and welcomes more Chinese tourists to visit. She expressed her willingness to work closely with the Consulate General to strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation through sister city relationships and other channels.

Both sides also exchanged views on issues such as tourism safety and order management.
