The Consulate General in Luang Prabang was officially opened in December 2013. The consular district covers six provinces in northern Laos, namely Luang Prabang, Bokeo, Houaphan, Phongsali, Namtha and Oudomxay. Among them, three provinces of Phongsali, Namtha and Oudomxay border Yunnan Province of China. The provinces in the consular district have close relations with China in various fields such as politics, economy and humanities. Luang Prabang, where the Consulate General is located, is the political, economic, trade and cultural center of northern Laos and has been listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
At present, the China-Laos comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is developing healthily and steadily, and the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos is advancing steadily.
