With the arrival of Lao New Year, a period characterized by significant population movement and numerous activities, the Consulate General of China in Luang Prabang hereby reminds Chinese tourists traveling to northern Laos to pay attention to the following:
I. Prepare Before Your Trip. It is recommended to purchase necessary travel insurance in China, choose reputable travel agencies, and avoid "low-price tours" or "shopping tours." Do not participate in high-risk tourist activities. Please inform your family of your travel itinerary in a timely manner. During the festival, border crossings in various parts of Laos experience a large influx of people. It is advised to prepare relevant documents in advance, queue orderly for immigration and customs procedures, and carefully check the entry/exit stamps upon completion. If any stamps are missing, please report it to the staff on-site and resolve the issue before departing.
II. Comply with Lao Laws and Regulations. Do not engage in business, employment, or other activities inconsistent with the purpose of your tourist visa. Do not bring e-cigarettes into Laos. Do not gather to play cards in places such as train stations, restaurants, or hotels. Participation in telecommunications fraud, gambling, prostitution, drug-related, or other illegal activities is strictly prohibited.
III. Participate in Water Splashing Civilly and Respect Local Customs. When participating in water splashing celebrations, it is strictly forbidden to splash dirty water, colored water, or liquids that are irritating or toxic. Throwing water balloons or ice water is strictly prohibited. It is strictly forbidden to splash water on the elderly, pregnant women, infants, police officers on duty, camera crews, monks, or other special groups.
IV. Enhance Safety Awareness. Keep your identification documents and valuables secure. In crowded places, pay attention to personal and property safety, and take care of accompanying elderly individuals and children. In the event of incidents such as theft or robbery, please report to the police promptly after ensuring your personal safety, and you may contact the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in Laos for assistance.
We wish you a safe journey!
